Creon Butler, Cabinet Office

Creon Butler is a member of HM Diplomatic Service. Since January 2013 he has been Director, European and Global Issues Secretariat, in the Cabinet Office. From 2009-12 he served as Senior Advisor, International and EU, HM Treasury, where his responsibilities included leading on the G20 Framework for Strong Sustainable and Balanced Growth and the Chancellor’s initiative to establish London as a centre for Renminbi trading. Prior to that he was British Deputy High Commissioner to India (2006-9) and Director Economic Policy/Chief Economic Adviser at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (2004-6). Before joining the Foreign Office, Creon spent 15 years at the Bank of England, where his roles included briefing the Monetary Policy Committee on financial market developments as Head, Monetary Instruments and Markets Division.
